Anjin Sun – middle eastern instruments meets psychedelic trance

July 20th, 2013 Posted in PsyNews

Anjin SunLet us introduce to you one interesting project Anjin Sun. Goa, ethnic, tribal dance and trance, in which dub and dubstep impressions appear as well, completed with Middle-Eastern musical spirit. Sound interesting?  Read our small intervew that we made with Zsolt Bíró (Anjin Sun)

When did you start playing music?

I started my musical life as metal guitar player, but 17 years ago I turned to the eastern musical genres and started to learn Arabic and Turkish classical and folk music on the oud (arabic lute). I played traditional music in several formations but I always loved electronical music and tried to fuse all musical impressions I received. 6 years ago I started the band Myzrab (www.myzrab.hu) in which we spice middle eastern music with drum & bass and dubstep influences, with ragga singing. One and a half years ago I created the band Tana Joom (www.tanajoom.com) in which we evoke Balcanic, Indian and middle-eastern harmonies within the goa style. I plan to start my live act now (2013) under the name Anjin Sun (www.facebook.com/anjinsungoa, www.anjinsun.com under construction).

Tell me about your music equipment?

I use the following musical instruments in my music: oud, saz, qanun, guitar. Elektronics: Ableton Live, Nordlead 2X, Access Virus, Moog Slim Phatty, APC 40.

What and Who is your musical influence?

Nitzer Ebb, Front 242, Frontline Assembly, Depeche Mode. I heard goa music first in the 90’s: Infected Mushroom, Astral Projection, Juno Reactor, Transwave.  In the goa style I do not only love the music but also its spirituality which reflects for me the new hippy movement.

What means your project name?

Having seen the series „Shogun” (by James Clavell) I felt that the character of the the leading man is very close to mine as I also got under the influence of the eastern cultures coming originally from the western world.

Hear and see Anjin Sun
